Monday, May 31 is a legal holiday, Memorial Day. Classes are not in session.

Water Case Nine will be debated in class Tuesday, June 1, a shortened day. Students chosen to present at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California June 9 field trip will re-present their Defense of Thesis to students either this week or next. Field trip forms are required and if students do not submit them by Thursday they will not attend the trip. Appropriate attire is required; students should dress as if they are interviewing for a job.

Unit Twelve Vocabulary Workshop is due on Tuesday, June 1; test will be scheduled later in the week.

The Bedford Reader
, Writer's Choice, and Language of Composition texts should be brought back; these texts are being returned to the textbook room.

Water Case Nine unit test will be assigned in class. Water Case Ten will be assigned as homework.

The precis assignment for the research paper is due June 4.

Friday is a furlough day and classes are not in session.

The precis assignment for the research paper is due June 4.

Water Case Nine debate continues in class Monday and Tuesday; student presenters are scheduled in class for Wednesday and Thursday; finalists who will present at MWD on June 9 will be determined.

Unit Eleven Vocabulary is due Tuesday; test is scheduled for Thursday.

Letter to the Editor assignment is due Tuesday.

Students prepare index cards to record notes of water conservation methods of member cities in order to participate in the debate-discourse portion of the MWD field trip; this follows the five Defense of Thesis presentations.

Return Writer's Choice, Bedford Reader, and Language of Composition books so these may be submitted to the textbook room.

California Standards Test is administered schoolwide this week as students follow a special testing bell schedule (see school web site calendar for specifics).

Period Two meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Period Three meets Monday, Thursday, and Friday.

The fifteen-page research paper is due for all students on Tuesday, May 18; no late papers will be accepted. Please e-mail me at jcarmicl@lausd.net for questions or concerns. The precis has been assigned and is due June 4.

Preparation for the presentations is set this week; trip slips are due; students also complete Water Cases Eight, Nine and Ten before the trip.

Friday assignment due: Use index cards to record notes for Metropolitan Water District field trip (member cities discourse and debate presentation).

Students will review on Monday and Tuesday for the Wednesday Advanced Placement English Language and Composition examination.

Works Cited page and final draft of Outline for the research paper are due on Thursday. The paper deadline is Monday, May 17; no late papers will be accepted--late work policy is not in effect for this assignment.

Presentations for June 9 consideration at MWD will be scheduled beginning next week. Trip slips are due on Friday, May 21; students will complete field trip matrix for IDs, bus passes or token requests, and lunch requests during the week.
