STUDYPATH* March 1-5, 2010

Language of Composition and Bedford Reader are both due in class next Monday, March 8 for assigned work. The literary terms test will be Friday morning; on Thursday of this week students should bring definitions completed on paper for review before the test.

Invisible Man Chapters 21-25 and the epilogue Dialectical Journal entries are due on Tuesday, with class discussion scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday in class. The motif essay for the novel is available at gomyaccess.com beginning March 2 and closes March 9.

Water Case Seven test is due today, Monday. The activity is scheduled for Thursday in class, when Water Case Eight will be distributed.

Research paper skills continue on Friday when Writer's Choice textbook will be required in class. The topic, theme and focus for the research essay will be announced after the Water Forum meeting with MWD representatives on March 3.

Period Three letter to the editor is due on Thursday in class.

Multiple choice practice for the AP English Language examination is scheduled for Wednesday. Essay preparation week (essays on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; multiple choice on Tuesday and Thursday) is tentatively scheduled April 5-9, 2010, the week after spring break.

Vocabulary Workshop Unit Nine test is scheduled Tuesday before the class discussion.

Daum Bedford Reader questions 1. and 2. Meaning; 2. 3. 4. Writing Strategies; 3. Language are due Monday, March 1.

Language of Composition and Bedford Reader, as usual, are both due in class on Monday for assigned work.

Invisible Man Chapters 16-20 Dialectical Journal class discussion continues on Monday and Tuesday; final dialectical entries are due Tuesday, March 2 for Chapters 21-25 and the epilogue--two entries each equals twelve journal responses. Motif essay for the novel is scheduled for early March and will be completed online.

Water Case Six test is due today, Monday. The activity is scheduled for Wednesday in class, when Water Case Seven will be distributed.

STUDYPATH* February 15-19, 2010

No classes are in session on Monday, February 15, Presidents' Day, a legal holiday.

Students should have read the Huntington piece in Bedford Reader and be prepared to discuss it in class on Tuesday. Language of Composition texts should also be available in class for the next set of literary terms that will be assigned.

The 2007 College Board synthesis essay on advertising is due Tuesday. Students spent time annotating the sources in class last week; the prompt and the sources are online at collegeboard.com if additional information is needed to prepare the essay. No late exceptions are permitted since this essay was assigned a week ago.

Unit Eight Vocabulary Workshop is due Tuesday. Answers will be reviewed in class and the test date announced.

Writer's Choice text is due Thursday for work on strategies and skills necessary for preparation of the upcoming fifteen-page MLA research paper related to the Junior Defense of Thesis for Metropolitan Water District. Water Case Six will be assigned this week with the unit test due date announced.

Invisible Man Chapters Sixteen-Twenty dialectical journal entries (two per chapter) are due Friday for class discussion. The due date for the motif essay will be announced.

Period Three Letter to the Editor is due on Thursday.

Semester B

Students will complete Water Cases Four, Five and Six this week in class. Water Case Four test is due Tuesday.

Multiple choice practice for the upcoming AP English Language examination is scheduled this week as in-class assigned work.

Bedford Reader and Language of Composition are due in class Monday for assignments.

Writer's Choice and Vocabulary Workshop assignments will be scheduled next week, including work on research paper skills and Unit Eight vocabulary, which is due next Tuesday, February 16.

Invisible Man dialectical journals continue with Chapters Sixteen-Twenty due on Friday, February 19 for a class discussion.

An AP synthesis essay will be assigned this week and is due next Tuesday, February 16.
