Summer Introduction to AP English Language and Composition

Welcome students to Advanced Placement English Language and Composition 2013-2014!

An updated syllabus and Week One blog will be posted at the beginning of August.  Classes begin on Tuesday, August 13.

You may wish to familiarize yourself with the novels scheduled for this yearlong course.  Access the textbook and novel photos by downloading the document on Box (at right of this blog).  We will complete reading assignments and dialectical journals on Invisible Man, Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Great Gatsby.  The textbooks are The Bedford Reader, The Language of Composition, Five Steps to a Five, Everything's An Argument, Writer's Choice and Vocabulary Workshop.  Students will also complete a fifteen-page research paper defense of thesis on a topic related to water conservation and participate in a trip to Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for an oral defense of thesis by selected students.
