Working Outline for Junior Defense of Thesis Paper

There have been some inquiries from students about how to complete this brief working outline; a suggested model sample working outline was distributed in class the week preceding spring break.

Use two handouts (these were provided to students) "Essential Questions about Water in California: Including the Delta and its Species and Habitats" and a four-page "Be Waterwise...All Year Long" abstract/prompt as tools to develop a preliminary skeleton outline of what the fifteen-page paper will cover. Pay particular attention to the mandate of 20% statewide reduction in water use by 2020 and the numbering and lettering of the last three paragraphs of page two of the abstract/prompt handout. Then review the Challenge One and Challenge Two information from page three to address the answers to questions posed for each Challenge, adding any additional points necessary.

Read the web site of Metropolitan Water District, click on member agencies to get ideas, and start to access information on the website source handout that was provided.

READ THE MATERIALS IN DEPTH AND THINK THROUGH A PRELIMINARY SKETCH OF WHAT THE PAPER WILL STATE, WHAT IT WILL PROVE, AND WHAT IT WILL DEFEND.

IF YOUR WORKING OUTLINE NEEDS REVISION, SUGGESTIONS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THE REWRITE!
